Today we visited the only settlement in the area. With a population of around 350 people, it is the largest northern settlement on the east coast of Greenland. We began with a local dance performance upon arriving ashore. After that, guests were free to explore the town, visiting the hunters’ workshop and museum. There was also some wildlife to be seen, with many Arctic hares within the settlement. Later that afternoon, we departed Scoresbysund, heading out into the open sea and northbound for our next adventure in Northeast Greenland National Park. In the late evening, an announcement of northern lights (aurora) was made, which turned out to be spectacular!
