After sailing north overnight across the Bransfield Strait, we arrived at the South Shetland Islands late in the morning. Following lunch, we prepared for a landing at Half Moon Island, where the Expedition Team went ahead to set up the site.

The first guests were about to arrive ashore when Antarctic weather reminded us who’s in charge. Winds suddenly picked up to 50 knots, bringing with them heavy snow blowing horizontally across the landing site. The decision was made to return to the ship immediately. Despite the challenging conditions, the operation was handled calmly and professionally by the team.

Even with the setback, the wild weather was a fitting reminder of Antarctica’s untamed character—and the unpredictability that makes every expedition unique.
