We landed this morning at Portal Point, tucked into the northern edge of the Reclus Peninsula, under yet another brilliant blue sky. With the sun shining down and barely a breeze in the air, it was hard to believe we were in one of the most remote corners of the planet.

This historic site was once the base for Sir Wally Herbert’s 1950s expedition to chart the northern Antarctic Peninsula by dog sled. We walked over to the remains of the hut foundations used during that expedition, a quiet reminder of the human stories woven into this vast, icy landscape.

Back on the beach, a group of brave guests stripped down for a true Antarctic rite of passage—the polar plunge. Cheers and laughter echoed across the bay as each person took their chilly dip before returning to the ship with a new story to tell.
