On this day, it was time to leave the magical land of South Georgia behind. We set sail across the churning, seething sea, and steered a course for the deep south. Guests had an opportunity to gain some rest and relaxation before the excitement of Antarctica, and many took part in a tour of the bridge.

On this day, guests were treated to an exclusive visit of an operating Antarctic base. We stopped in the beautiful and rarely visited South Orkney Islands, where guests disembarked and were given a tour around the British Signy Base. Many guests took the opportunity to send home letters from the base’s secluded post office, and to buy rare souvenirs from its gift shop. Guests also took a short hike around the hills of the base, where they were treated to stunning views of the island, and many encounters with our old friends, the fur seals.
