Today we experienced the engineering marvel of the Panama Canal as we crossed a series of three locks to get from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean.

The Gatun Locks are a vital section of the Panama Canal, located on the Atlantic side. Once through we entered Gatun Lake, one of the largest artificial lakes in the world.

The Pedro Miguel Locks are one of the two lock sets on the Pacific side of the Panama Canal. This single-chamber lock will lowered the vessel 9 meters (30 feet) to Miraflores Lake, a small artificial lake that connects Pedro Miguel and Miraflores Locks.

Lastly we entered the Miraflores Locks, the final set of locks on the Pacific side of the Panama Canal. These two chambers gradually lowered the ship 16.5 meters (54 feet) to sea level, marking the completion of our transit from the Atlantic to the Pacific.
