A group from Kake came on board in the morning and gave a performance in which we heard their language, drums, songs, and stories, and saw their dances and regalia. It was then our turn to visit Kake, where a bald eagle sat atop the world's tallest totem pole. The community centre had displays of Tlingit regalia, clothing, and decorations made of sea otter fur, cedar bark, and porcupine needles — alongside a weaving demonstration. It was a warm and generous welcome from a remarkable community.
