Our second day in the Drake Passage felt gentler – more 'Drake Lake' than 'Drake Shake' – giving everyone time to find their sea legs and dive into expedition mode. The day was filled with seabird sightings, knot-tying workshops, wave wisdom, and fascinating lectures on the Belgica and Antarctic science. Biosecurity vacuum stations buzzed as guests prepared their gear for landing, and thick socks made their debut at the boot pick-up station.
Citizen Science sessions, wildlife watches, and lively piano interludes kept spirits high. By evening, the buzz on deck was contagious as sharp eyes scanned the horizon… until it happened: our first iceberg! Now we were ready – jackets collected, boots fitted, and excitement building for our first Antarctic cruising together.
