We had a great last landing with our expedition boats at volcanic Deception Island onto the black sand beach in Whalers Bay. We walked quite some distance to reach the Neptune's Window on the south side of the bay, which provided a spectacular view out over the open sea. After exploring the former whaling station, guests also had the opportunity to go for a plunge from the beach today. Although there is a geothermal gradient on the beach at low tide, this didn't really affect the water temperature too much, so it was still very much a cold plunge! Later that evening, we sailed out through the narrow passageway known as Neptune's Bellows one more time, and headed out into the open Drake Passage after an incredible five days on the Antarctic Peninsula.
