The morning saw us attempting to traverse the Lemaire Channel, also known as the “Kodak Crack”—a spectacular sail through a narrow passage flanked by 2,000 m-high vertical cliffs. The attempt was short-lived, as we were struck by 70-knot katabatic winds. The Captain erred on the side of safety, and we quickly changed plans to relocate to Stony Point for a landing, kayaking, a polar plunge, and science boat activities.
