Most guests got their sea legs and were able to enjoy a variety of onboard activities on the second day in the Drake Passage. There were lectures on photography, the history of Antarctica, the differences between Antarctic and Arctic environments, and, of course, penguins. Additionally, we had a briefing about the measures used by IAATO and followed by HX and other companies to minimize our impact on the pristine Antarctic environment. The wildlife watches rewarded the patient with splendid views of seabirds and a brief glimpse of Hourglass Dolphins, as we sailed past the first icebergs of the trip. Many guests decorated their complimentary water bottles, and those with knitting projects enjoyed a 'knit and natter' session.
