Our second day on the Scotia Sea brought calmer seas and gentler conditions, a welcome change after the unpredictability of recent days. Out on deck, the wildlife watches remained rewarding, with a variety of seabirds following the ship. A special highlight came with the sighting of the trip’s only Kerguelen Petrel—a rare and exciting addition to our list.

Onboard, the programme was full and engaging. Lectures covered a range of topics, from the extraordinary story of Ernest Shackleton to the history and geopolitical significance of the Falkland/Malvinas Islands. Guests also enjoyed sessions on birdlife specific to the Falklands and learned how to identify the various species of whales and dolphins we might encounter in the waters ahead.

It was a relaxed yet enriching day at sea, with minds full of stories and eyes still scanning the horizon.
