Before sunrise we started our exploration of Whaler's bay, located on Deception Island. The entire island is a still active volcano. Historic artefacts from the whaling and the research era were still visible, but fur seals had taken over most of the bay, challenging us to find a way up to Neptun's window, a beautiful lookout point. Some of us were courageous enough to take a bath in Antarctic waters, a so-called polar plunge.
