For those interested, part of the programme is to spend time in a boat with the scientists or photographers. This was really interesting to do whenever weather permitted. Additionally, today we were able to participate in kayaking in mirror calm waters with our wonderful activity guides Laura and Candice. Red Rock Ridge was our first continental landing and it was an incredible day topped off with our first colony of Adelie penguins at Stonington. It was a fascinating base and we learned some of the grisly history of the sudden American departure from their base there as the US entered WW2.
