On the way to the island of Grimsey, there were two big excitements on the outer decks: first, we saw several humpback whales. Later on Njord, the god oft he northern seas, came onboard and baptized us with icy polar water because we had crossed the Arctic circle over night. Hence, some of us took the opportunity to walk to the globe of Grimsey island. Being repositioned regularly, this globe marks the changing position of the Arctic circle very exactly. The majority however got stuck on its way to the globe by the countless puffins nesting in the cliffs along the coast.
