Our time together drew to a close as we disembarked in Longyearbyen, where the voyage had begun a week earlier. From Hornsund's glacier-filled waters and beluga sightings, to polar bear encounters that reminded us who truly owned this landscape, and onward through fast ice, trapping stations, and the research outpost of Ny-Ålesund — the expedition unfolded as Arctic journeys do, shaped more by the place than by any plan. The long northern light stayed with us throughout, and the stillness of these waters settled into memory long before the ship turned for home.
