On August 29, our original landing at Alicehamna was canceled following wind and swell, which led the team to arrange a landing at Buchananhaløya instead. The afternoon landing at Smeerenburg was then called off as well due to gusty conditions with 50 knots reported. Adaptations in the schedule saw us immersed in onboard activities throughout the day, as science lectures focused on ocean acoustics and discovery sessions reviewing the science boat findings. Wildlife watches and practical talks about voyage logistics rounded out the day with opportunities for learning and engagement for all participants.
