Sitka felt like a connection to Alaska’s human heritage - a journey through time. Regardless of the rain, every aspect of Sitka bore true testimony to the rich human history of this place. The totem poles reflected the ancient culture of the Tlingit people. The Russian architecture, particularly St Michael’s Cathedral, echoed Russia’s presence in Alaska and its complex history with the Tlingit. Everything felt genuinely authentic. Guests went on excursions or explored independently. Everyone returned to the ship having experienced Sitka in their own very particular way.
