At Red Bluff Bay, we eagerly awaited another day of small boat adventures. We cruised to the west side of Baranof Island and were greeted by classic Southeast Alaska weather - rain. The weather had been quite mild until this point, so the rain added an unexpected element to our afternoon. When we arrived, Steller sea lions played around the ship to welcome us. Once aboard the zodiacs, our guides navigated us through small islands and cliffside waterfalls deep into the bay. River otters played along the shoreline and bald eagles sat sentinel above giant spruce trees. Although the weather was wet, it was perfect for the grand waterfalls, which had an extra punch. The long ride into the bay ended at a beautiful river with grasslands, stunning scenery, and if we were lucky, a bit of sunshine to top it off.
