We arrived at the Isle of Gigha this morning with a forecast that hinted at cooler weather, but the day turned out to be much kinder than expected. Temperatures were pleasant, and we were even treated to periods of sunshine as we stepped ashore.
The main highlight of the day was the beautiful Achamore Gardens, where we wandered at our own pace, taking in the colourful displays, peaceful paths, and the rich variety of plants that thrive in this sheltered corner of the island.
For those looking to stretch their legs further, a guided hike to the south of the island offered scenic coastal views and a deeper sense of Gigha’s gentle beauty. In the afternoon, some of us joined a kayaking session, gliding quietly through calm waters, while others took part in a Citizen Science outing aboard the Science Boat—contributing to real-world data collection while experiencing the marine environment up close.
A particularly special moment came as we marked a donation from the HX Foundation, made possible through contributions from our guests. The funds will go toward the restoration of Achamore Gardens, which suffered damage during Storm Eowyin this past January. It was a proud reminder of how travel can be a force for good, and how our presence can support the places we visit.
