Our final day at sea was spent sailing north under calm skies and warm sunshine as we approached Buenos Aires. The gentle motion of the ship and bright conditions made for a peaceful close to the voyage. Morning yoga offered a quiet start to the day, followed by wildlife watches that brought sightings of large numbers of albatrosses—graceful reminders of the wild places we were leaving behind.
The onboard programme continued with a final round of lectures and workshops. Guests learned about the sensory systems of cetaceans, geological formations, and the remarkable life of polar explorer Fridtjof Nansen. Other sessions explored the structure of feathers, the principles of sustainability, and the cultural importance of South America’s yerba mate.
The Science Team provided a recap of the citizen science projects conducted throughout the voyage—highlighting the valuable contributions made by guests in support of ongoing research. As the day wound down, the Captain’s farewell brought everyone together one last time to reflect on the journey, share memories, and begin preparations for the travels ahead. It was a fitting end to an unforgettable expedition—one that left us all feeling a little more connected to the vast, wild, and inspiring places we had explored together.
