Overnight, the ship sailed to the northwest of the Falkland archipelago, arriving at Saunders Island—an Important Bird Area known for its remarkable diversity of wildlife. We landed at The Neck, a striking sandy isthmus connecting the western peninsula to the rest of the island, and were greeted by clear skies and perfect weather.

From the landing site, guests set out across the landscape to explore a series of rookeries. Along the way, we encountered Gentoo, Magellanic, Rockhopper, and King Penguins—each colony offering its own character and charm. A walk up the hillside brought us to a colony of Black-browed Albatrosses, where sturdy chicks perched patiently on their nests, waiting for returning parents to bring their next meal.

The King Penguins—elegant and unbothered by our presence—were the undeniable stars of the day. Their vivid colours and stately presence made for an unforgettable wildlife experience—one that will surely remain a favourite for many on board.
