We arrived at Ivittuut, a small former mining settlement. We boarded the zodiacs and headed ashore. The old cryolite mine had flooded, but local Inuit still used some surrounding buildings as summer cabins. We spotted musk oxen on the hill behind the settlement, and reports of Arctic hares were heard, too. That afternoon, with all aboard, we headed North.
